Both James and Sammy have had dogs all their lives, bith growing up around large dogs. When looking for a dog of their own, they wanted an active dog and something different from the norm. After a little research, they decided that an Alaskan Malamute was for them and in November 2006, they brought home an 8 week old puppy who they named Lupo. Lupo was a special dog, and a challenge for their first dog. They had to learn fast about the breed and because of him they learned a lot in the short time he was alive. When he died suddenly in 2008, they decided that the time was right for a kennel name, and new it must have him included in it as our first malamute and settled on Luponooshka. Both Sammy and James ride motorbikes and met at a bike meet at Frith Street, Soho, in 2005. The rest they say, is history. Working their malamutes is a passion of both Sammy and James. Whilst James races and treks the dogs, Sammy acts as pit crew to make sure they are ready to race and make sure they are ok when they get back. During the summer the dogs complete backpacking walks and are shown at both open and championship level. We enjoy working more than showing, but showing is a good way to stay in touch with friends and is also good for obedience and socialising for the dogs. At weight pull events, James handles Mina and Sammy handles Lucien and once old enough, she will also handle Selene should she take to it like her big brother does. James and Sammy are both directors of Snowpaw Store, and Sammy also runs her own Photography and Graphic Design business called Samnooshka Designs. We are always happy to meet new people and talk about our dogs and Alaskan Malamutes. We are happy to answer queries from people and try to answer emails ASAP. in 2011 Sammy was accepted onto the AMCUK "C" list to judge Alaskan Malamutes. We are currently taking a break from the showing scene although we still intend to show at our local shows and the AMCUK club shows to keep the dogs practiced. |
